Orange Skin Orange Skin was founded in 2001 by two architects with a commitment to increasing design awareness and appreciation among the American consumer. The goal was to provide consumers with access to Modern International design otherwise largely inaccessible to the domestic market.

Targeting the design conscious and design professionals, Orange Skin mandated that design, while a lifestyle and an attitude, was a discipline that encouraged a discriminating taste.Orange Skin has since evolved into a complete resource for modern design.

Attentive owner and showroom attendant, whose experience and enthusiasm for design shows in the sometimes obscure and difficult-to-obtain products displayed in the store. Impeccable taste, and this is the place I'd go for outdoor furnishings in Chicago hands down.

I'm not too thrilled with the items in this store, kind of dated but they have a nice display of the English designer Tom Dixon that my clients really love, I also find the staff to be very attentive (maybe even a little too much!)

My husband and I just bought a condo in MI. We did some research via the web for stores to visit to furnish this condo with modern furnishings and Orange Skin looked like an awesome place to visit. We walked in and a gentleman greeted us to see if we needed assistance.we told him we were looking for ideas and he responded, you might want to visit next door as OS are "more high design".

Ok so I guess we didn't look like we knew, or appreciated, "high design" - my husband is an architect and I can assure you he knows and appreciates high design. Orange Skin won't be getting our business - we felt insulted.

Great store for those of us that like architecturally inspires furniture. I too find it expensive, but much of this furniture should be considered an "investment, " since many of these pieces are more likely to be intentionally collected, and have a greater probability of hold their value over time, often times these pieces are passed on as heirlooms to future generations.

This is not as like for the run of the mill stuff that one might pick up from say IKEA, JCPenny, Sears, etc. (nothing wrong with getting your furniture from these places). The staff is knowledgeable and professional and the furniture on display in the show room make furniture lovers like myself feel right at home.

Quick notes on furniture shopping: Their website is good browsing for inspiration but they don't have most of those items available any more. They do have some cool pieces if you want to shell out the big dollars, but I didn't like anything so much that I'd shell out those dollars and to be honest, none of the pieces seemed 'wow'!

My Business purchased a chair in October, this was a 2k chair. The contract clearly said 12-16week delivery and it has been 8 months now and no chair. When I asked if we could return the chair I was told there are no refunds! Also a few months ago they told me to expect a delivery and I waited for the chair but they never even came - I didnt even get a phone call explaining what happened. WTF, I mean if I am going to buy such an expensive chair I would expect them to be more receptive and tell me an accurate date of delivery, the least they can do. I give this place 1 star, and would never ever recommend them, I get better service at IKEA!

I would give this place 5 stars but the selection is a bit limited. That being said, the inventory they have is really funky and fun! I found a great set of lights for a condo I'm building and the staff was incredibly helpful and nice!

Although I haven't purchased my bed from here yet (hopefully- if they can get it in the color I want) I have to praise this beautiful store. They have gorgeous and unique furniture and lighting. I hope that I am not in a rush next time I go because I could be in here for hours. Be back soon!

Meh. Not impressed. The furniture all seemed cheap and overpriced and tacky. For instance, all of the "wood" furniture they had in the showroom was actually particle board. Ick! The staff was annoying and wouldn't leave us alone. They felt they had to comment on everything we looked at. They would just. hover (which only added to the cheapness of the whole experience.they were like commission hounds). I will never go back.

Orange-Skin is expensive but I give then credit for the items they have. Honestly I don't know where they get retro stuff from and at the same time it can be encorporated in a contemporary setting. It's great.

When I have that fabulous exposed brick loft I've always wanted, I'll come to Oragne Skin to furnish the place. Let me add when I also have that unlimited budget. I've falling in love hard with their Sottiletto Bed. It's so modernist, crisp and clean. It's also over $3000 for a bed frame. Nonetheless, this store has lots of fab finds, especially little kitchen knick knacks.

I love walking by this store and dreaming I could afford some of the stuff in it. They have very, very cool home goods. If you are not into the modern look, you would be better off heading down the road a bit.
