Just average. I've done consignment business with them over the past 15 years. I would suggest selling your items online if possible as you get all the funds (except whatever you spent to get the items ready to be sold). They have a very old method of consignment, meaning they can only issue checks. Please make sure your address is up to date either with them or USPS.
Because they won't reissue another one if it goes to the wrong address. You have to wait until it's voided (90 days) before they're willing to reissue. I won't use them for consignment going forward as they're so many other local places around town. They served their purpose for me in the past and that's why I gave 3 stars. Thanks

If I could give it no stars I would. I have been a long customer of Clearance House for years maybe about 10. I have purchased dinning rooms, bedrooms, crystal, pottery and I can keep going.with the list. Since they moved from Southside Blvd, it had not been the same and their customer service is non existent. The 1st issue is they state they are open until 6, not true at all because they close the register at 5:45 and will not take any sales after that.
One time they did that to us and I appreciated it because it saved us $2600 on furniture we were going to buy. After we had time to think about it, we changed our mind. There is never a time I walk out of there empty handed, at least when the registers is open. Today I will sad they list my business forever and will no longer support them through word of mouth.
I walked in at 5:45, and they immediately yelled from across the room that the register is closed when other customers were in there to, of course they left right after they yelled the registers were closed. We have been in there many times toward closing and normally we're ok with that because we'll still look and get an eye on things and come back the next day to purchase them. We'll today they said guys were closed now it's 6:00.
I looked at my watch and it was actually 5:50, so I said we still have 10 minutes it's not 6 yet, and she very rudely said she has plans so it's 6 and they're closed. That will be the last time I step foot through their doors. Business owners. Retail management snd retail workers need to realize the customers pay their salary and keep their business afloat.
This day and age from the pandemic, businesses need to realize if your business survived the pandemic, don't bite the hands of the customers as that is what kept you surviving. Just because the pandemic is not the top news anymore, it is still hard for businesses to stay open as we have witnessed businesses closing left and right. Not coming to Clearance House anymore is not a bad thing for us because it will save us money, but for them, its money out of their pocket, possibly a C pay check lost for an employee because they can't afford to employ them anymore and it's just a Downward spiral from there.
There are other consignment stores in the Jacksonville area, and if I was you, I'd look into the other stores. For a person who grew up with your parents owning a business, that very last customer could be the one who purchased enough merchandise that day on what you could have sold in a week. Good luck Clearance House!

I'm surprised to see the negative reviews here, as my experience was a very positive one. My spouse and I went in to find a sofa due to the supply chain issues causing months-long delivery delays from most new furniture places (La-Z-Boy told us six months!). The staff here was friendly but not pushy while we browsed, and we found the store easy to navigate.
Everything we saw appeared to be in good condition and made by quality brands. We settled on a sofa that met our needs, and an employee happily helped us to measure it, even providing a measuring tape. They were having issues with their registers when we went to pay, but as someone who works with computers, I can't fault them for that. They worked hard to get them fixed and process our payment, and they handled arranging a delivery -- even working as the intermediary when we needed to change some of the delivery arrangements.

If I could give this business a ZERO stars rating I would: my husband and I shopped and found a leather desk chair with casters, ideal for our needs. We went up to purchase it and were told that they had closed down the register so we would have to come back the next day. "Don't worry, we will pull the tag and hold it for you." Both ladies reassured us.
When we returned the next day, the chair had been sold. Someone else wanted it I guess and as this store obviously has no ethical standards, they sold it to them. Promises mean nothing to this business.

Do not send your furniture here for consignment! The staff is helpful but the owner only processes checks once a month. If they mail your check to the wrong address they ask you to pay the $35 stop payment fee or wait 90 days for it to void. Spoke to the owners and he was very unprofessional and just not helpful! Not to mention rude. *Ms. Walker has moved and failed to update the store of her new address in an appropriate timely manner.* This is false.
I verified my address and called the store to confirm my address. *Her check will be mailed to her as soon as her original check becomes invalid (it is voided after 90 days).* This check was originally supposed to be sent to me in February and now I may not receive it until April! Beware! As you all see the owner mentioned nothing about his unprofessionalism!

Found the new place on Phillips Highway.really really nice. We love to stop in every once in a while. They have gently pre-used quality furniture of all types. From formal dining to living rooms to bed room to art work you will enjoy your buying experience. No high pressure sales people just great stuff. Saw a lady in for her 3rd buy as every few years she changes out most of her furniture for other things.

Store owner took advantage of the Pandemic and has stolen my furniture. My furniture was delivered there 2 weeks before the Pandemic hit. I called to see what I should do. I followed the store employees instructions exactly as she instructed me. When they reopened I called again to find out what I needed to do if anything, I was told my furniture was gone. That my 90 contact was up, the end. He kept the the money and the furniture for about 13 pieces of Lexington furniture.

This was my first consignment purchase experience. At our advanced age, a good option. I love this place! We found what we needed at a reasonable price. The ladies were courteous, kind and helpful, even with the heavy lifting out to our vehicle. This was our second stop of the day, the first being another business that thought too highly of themselves in terms of prices.
It was actually also a dusty and junky consignment shop. So, we will probably put a few things in consignment in the near future and look forward to working with these good ladies again at Clearing House on Philips Hwy.

I purchased a headboard from this company when I went to pick it up, it was clearly a footboard. I was forced to accept the item that was not what I purchased. Their excuse was the person who consigned the item "told" them it was a headboard. I wanted to purchase something else, but was advised that the only choice I had was to "reconsign" the item so they cod get another commission, or sell it on facebook marketplace. In the store i pointed out the footboards that were the same height. I GOT A DEER IN HEADLIGHTS STARE. STAY AWAY

It sucks to travel all the way to a store before their posted closing time only to be told the registers have already been closed. This is simply poor service! We arrived and were in the store a full 10 minutes before the posted closing time. I saw a beautiful piece through the window I wanted to purchase, but forget about it now. I can scan that entire store in 5 minutes and find some things to buy.
You are NOT open until 6pm if the customer doesn't even have an option to purchase. I also need to sell a few items, but I would not consign with a store that is turning potential customers away. We have purchased many items from this store, including a entire bedroom set, among several other items. You just lost us as customers. Shame on you, Clearing House!

I have been here Several times. The staff is always courteous. In fact, we have always been greeted and asked if we have been there before and how their (pricing) tags work. I enjoy the shop so much, when my father came to town, I suggested he visit for some of the items he wanted. He purchased a beautiful chest of drawers. The staff was nice, advised Transport would be $75 and was cash only.
They use local delivery people and do not have their own delivery personnel- None of the local consignment shops do, and fees are the same(we checked). Dad was pleased with his purchase. I would say the only thing my father want to enthused about, the store staff did not assist in moving any furniture in order for us to get the piece we purchased. Mind you, there were three of us, so the likely thought we 'had it covered'. I'd still give them a resounding FIVE STARS. KEEP UP THE GREAT VARIETY!

I purchased a lovely desk from this store in the past and a few other items. But it has changed - I'm not sure if it's under new management. It depends on who's there when you go in. If it's an older woman or gentleman, you may be able to work out a deal and get good customer service. If it's a middle aged woman, good luck.
We were interested in buying a bedroom set but didn't need every piece. The older gentleman said they could call the owners and see if they'd be willing to break up the set. Then a middle aged woman came over and said that we'd have to buy the whole set & then consign the pieces we don't want with them. That is ludicrous! She said this is their process.
I know from past experience, that is untrue. At that point, I decided I wouldn't patron this store anymore. And it's a shame because I was a happy customer in the past.

After driving by numerous times, I decided to stop here and give it a try. I slowly walked through every section of the store and not one person spoke. At one point a male employee even stood directly in front of me then turned and walked away. I was wearing decent clothing and makeup and in need of a new sofa and desk. I'm astounded at the rudeness and snobbery of this common place furniture store.
Three men were having a business pow wow and neither of them spoke either. I used to work as a Designer in a Showroom in Memphis, and I can assure you this was the most condescending group of people I've ever seen. No wonder the store remains empty of shoppers.
