I am writing to share my experience working with Woodwork Refined (WWR). I have a 1956 split -level (three levels) house that I have been renovating, decorating for the past 20 years. A labor of love. In later years I've worked on small details. My project with WWR entailed adding railings for my downstairs level. The upstairs level had a painted white wood railing.
My desire was to match the railings for both upstairs and downstairs levels. I set out on a quest to find a crafts person to do this. I surveyed the internet looking under wood work and other related key words. I quickly learned the difficulty of finding someone to create railings that would match. I called and left many messages. When I spoke directly with someone, I was usually told how difficult this job was.
One person yelled at me for asking too many questions! But to my luck I did get a call back from WWR. From the point on I found that I was in good hands. William came to my house and inspected my existing railing, took pictures, and said that yes they could replicate new ones. William answered all of my questions about the process, as well as added historical information about railing styles.
As the process of creating the rails unfolded, Amy kept me up to date on the manufacture of the railings. They also made suggestions on the brackets that would closely match my existing railing brackets. Despite lots of shipping/availability challenges Amy and William helped to get some lovely chrome brackets shipped from England. After several months installation day came. William and his assistant came out and masterfully installed the two railings.
The railings are exquisite: The paint job is superb (glossy, flawless) and the railings and brackets closely match the existing railing and fit the design of the house (see photos). It would be very difficult to tell that the new railings were not original to the house. In all of my years of working with craftspeople on my house, this is one of the best experiences.
I enjoyed working with William and Amy-they are knowledgeable of their craft, but also very nice people. They will work closely with you, offer suggestions, and answer your questions. Equally important, the craftsmanship of their work is excellent. I am not a perfectionist, but do have a discerning eye and high expectations. WWR fulfilled all of my expectations. Without reservation, I would recommend working with WWR. I anticipate working with them on another project.

Amy and William are a joy to work with. They're true professionals who do beautiful work. They've made cabinets, shelves, vanities etc. for us. They built a wood sculpture that never fails to garner compliments and praise. Amy and William are highly creative, innovative and full of integrity. They are masters of their trade, truly admirable.
