If I could give this place negative stars, I would. I sent the following email to the manufacturer after the owner, Ed, lied about upkeep on the pool and then ignored our calls and refused to help. After I sent the below email, Ed (the owner), called my husband and screamed at him telling him we were tarnishing his reputation and demanding that we email the manufacturer back and retract our statements about him and his business practices.
I would strongly recommend finding an alternate company to purchase an above ground pool from. One who is honest about the level of upkeep needed and one who is PROFESSIONAL! Email to Doughboy: I purchased the Silverlake doughboy model (22 ft x 52") last July. We have had the pool almost a year and have been able to swim in it less than 10 times because of all the problems we have had.
We purchased it from Casual Patio in Katy, TX. The owner, Ed, has been ZERO PERCENT helpful in helping solve any of our issues. The selling point for us was Ed telling us that the oxinator would allow us to never have to use any chemicals and would keep our water levels balanced. 1. About a week after we had the pool installed, we had super slippery slime all over the bottom of the pool. Ed told us not to worry it was "sediment from the liner releasing" and would go away.
After heading to the pool supply store to get the water tested, our levels were sky high with bacteria. We had to spend over $150 on chlorine, shock, algacide, and clarifier. Low and behold after this treatment the "liner sediment" somehow disappeared. 2. We have had to use shock, chlorine, and algacide the ENTIRE time we've had the pool. We have called Ed too many times to count asking why the oxinator is not doing its job because the pool turns green within a day of not having a chlorine floater in it.
Each time he tells us "we must be doing something wrong because he's never heard of that", but never tells us WHAT we are doing wrong. 3. Since March of this year, when we opened the pool for use for the season (we are in Houston), we have had to completely drain the pool twice because of algae. This is WITH using chlorine and shock and running the pump 12 hours a day. Ed will no longer answer his phone or return our calls. So, now we are reaching out to you, the manufacturer, directly.
What is the problem? Why will the water not stay balanced? Why is the "no chemicals needed" oxinator not doing its job, even with the help from chemicals? I am sick of throwing money down the drain buying chemical after chemical trying to keep this pool clear!

I bought a nice 12 ft. round above-ground pool here about a year ago, and Ed McNair (owner/manager) took a lot of time showing me all the styles of liners, ladders, pool sizes, pumps, etc. He is awesome - he never pressured me, just explained everything thoroughly and made suggestions based on what I said I was looking for, etc. I go in there occasionally to get my supplies and I always have questions about something that's going on with my pool, and again, he takes his time showing me what I've done wrong, ways to improve what I'm doing and never pressures me into buying ANYTHING.
He is such a nice guy - he has taught me a lot about pool maintenance, etc. and it's always an enjoyable experience to go there & chat with Ed! AND since I bought the pool, I've never spent more than $25 per visit to Casual Patio Pools, etc. If you're thinking of getting an above-ground pool, hot tub or patio/supplies, you cannot go wrong if you go see Ed! :) Thanks, Ed!

I just have to say Ed is the best! We just bought our first family pool from him and he helped us decide the best way to go! The fact that he helped us take care of every step from purchase to instillation! I also have to give so much praise to the new Oxi pool system he recommended. we just swam in our new family people today and there is absolutely no chlorine smell!
No burning eyes from swimming under the water! And as a very protective mother of small ones I love having a system without chlorine! Also the installation company was so fast and thorough! Thank you Ed and guys for making my children's year!

Don't believe a word Ed says. He doesn't and won't back it up. When you call about your issues he gets very upset and very loudly blames everyone but himself. Here I am out money several times fixing holes in my doughboy boy liner because the guess he recommended that were the very best did such a crappy job installing my pool. They didn't even clean the ground right and after it was done they told me to get a mallet and flatten all the stuff that was sticking up.
They convinced me it was normal procedure and that this was the see solution. I have several holes in a pool liner that I don't even swim in due to several surgeries I've had. When I called Ed to discuss this with him. He said no my guys they didn't tell you to do that. Called me a liar. Ed got mad at me because I had someone else patching the holes in my liner.
My new pool company guys said this was a bad installation company and these holes in liner were due to their bad installation. Remember Ed said there the best around and didn't care after he sold me the pool 8000.00 and installation.
