We had a great experience here. Shopping was great. Purchasing also great and delivery was perfect. Shelby (I think that was her name, but will have to verify) was EXCELLENT. She was patient, attentive, and not overbearing. She helped us with everything. Went above and beyond to find mat hung bedroom sets for us and call all of their other stores looking for matching pieces.

We finally decided on a bedroom suite and decided to look for a couch as well. We found the perfect sectional and even a loveseat to go in our gameroom. I cannot say enough good things about this saleswoman. I have never been so impressed. She was the entire reason we decided to stay and look at the couches (we had previously decided to wait a few months and then get a couch).

She deserves a raise and a promotion. The prices and selection here are excellent. They definitely have more in stock than any other furniture store we visited in the past several months. If we ever have to purchase more furniture we will definitely be back.

I bought $2000 worth of living room furniture and have had nothing but problems from the set. I contacted this company and they came out and "fixed" one set, then had to replace the whole couch, and then had to fix the loveseat, after we were promised it would be replaced, and again the love seat broke, and I was told the part was ordered after 3. months no contact and no part, I reached out and finally got a store credit for my money, drove over an hour picked out new furniture, only to be told I have to pay more money because of delivery fee because I wasn't told to bring the old crappy furniture back. I will NEVER buy from them again. Lesson learned, I wouldn't recommend this company to any one either.

We walked in and no one anknowledged us as they sat at their desk and stared. every employee that we encountered was rude and acted like us buying furniture was an inconvenience to them. we paid cash up front and got floor models that had stains that we said nothing about. I will not be buying anything else from this place.

We bought new furniture there back in May & everybody was so nice and helpful. We are in LOVE with our bedroom suite & the rest of the furniture we bought. The furniture is VERY good quality of wood. Very heavy. After getting the furniture we went and ate lunch at a cute little diner next door & the owner of Akins came over and thanked us for our purchase.

The furniture is great. The reason for only one star is I have experienced bad customer service with them. We purchased a warranty plan and have yet to get them to come fix what they said they would. I'd be happy to change my rating if the customer service gets better.

Very unfriendly staff, (if you can find someone). I have visited the store several times and it's always the same. If the other locations are like the Scottsboro store, I really don't know how they stay in business! Never once was I greeted, nor offered any assistance! Therefore, I will take my business elsewhere. Jones-Light Furniture in Stevenson or the Furniture Store in Henegar!

Good selection and good prices. The store is so large that it is difficult to find staff to help but once you do they are very kind. I will shop here again.

They have beautiful items here. Some prices are a little high but if you look around you will find sales! This is the best place to go for beds and mattresses. I checked everywhere and they have the most affordable prices.

Delivered a bedroom set to our house. Scheduled the delivery for between 3-5 they show up @9:30 brought the wrong pieces made a huge mess in our bedroom and left. Horrible service. still sleeping on a box spring and mattress on the floor Thanks Akins!

I purchased a leather sofa 3 years ago. The leather is splitting. I spoke to them and expected a small amount of customer service. I was told it had a 12 month warranty. I only expected maybe some amount of store credit. But only got told they didn't make the sofa, only sold it.

Bought a living room suit, paid in full. Went and picked all items up. The men there threw it in the trailer, with no regard of breakable items, or how to read where an arrow goes. Got all items home, which is an hour a way. EVERYTHING was broken. Called them, they refuse to come pick the items up! AWFUL service. Have reported to better business bureau.

Waited over an hour and a half at the dock for our furniture. We were parked in the loading dock for 30 mins just waiting on them to find our furniture. Multiple other vehicles had to do the same. Definitely not worth the wait in the summer with kids in the car.

They had a nice selection and had the furniture displayed nicely. There was only 2-3 other customers in the store, so it wasnt over run with business around 10am. My wife and I walked right past the front desk (where employees were sitting). We were never greeted by any employee nor asked if we needed any help with anything. Granted they gave us a chance to browse their inventory without being pushy or overbearing but, if you are selling a product, at least acknowledge your customers, if you want to make a sale. The lack of customer service is the ONLY reason for my 3 star rating.

While they may have good prices, they have the worst customer service I have EVER received. I told them exactly what I wanted over the phone, guess what? They didn't order it right and then blamed me! Then when my furniture finally gets delivered (6 weeks later) they are an hour earlier than the 2 hour time slot they told me (inconvenient) and gave me the wrong mirror, it doesn't match my furniture at all! Don't even waste your time talking to a manager - he will not help you. Highly do NOT recommend.

Ask for clarity regarding delivery charges to Cherokee County, AL. If you buy and take your furniture with you, they include sales tax in the purchase. If they deliver to Cherokee county, not only do they charge a delivery fee, they also charge for sales tax. The long an short of the matter is my "delivery" fee for sofa, love seat and chair was just shy of $300.

It would have been great if they had made that clear when we bought the furnIture. I expected a delivery fee of $50 or less, not $300. So, 2 stars for not revealing this when we bought the furniture.

Great experience! Katherine Talley was one of the most pleasant sales associates I've dealt with. The furniture selection was of nice quality, wide variety, and excellent prices! Furniture for every room in your home and plainly priced and a value you didn't feel like you needed to wait on a sale or haggle. Well worth my drive from the Huntsville area to Scottsboro, the smaller of two stores. The original, larger store, I've yet to visit, is in Ft. Payne.

This is an update from my previous review. We have picked up our furniture. We were not told until we tried to check out that they charge an extra 3% for using a card. We would have brought checks. Other than that, the person checking us out was much more on the ball than the sales people had been. The warehouse personnel was also very good and quick. All-in-all, I would use Akins again.

The best kept secret in North Alabama. I've shopped at Akins Furniture since moving to Huntsville in 2007. Most of my household furniture was purchased there. That includes all of our mattresses, bedroom sets, dining room tables, etc. Their prices are low, and their staff is friendly and helpful. From where I live, Akins is a bit of a hike (2 hour drive), so now we order Ashley furniture from their website. I've also placed an order entirely over the phone.

If you know exactly what you want, you don't have to drive all the way to Fort Payne to do business with them. If you compare their prices with other furniture stores, they are usually 30-40% cheaper.

We have bought many things from Akins and have been well satisfied! Great low prices!
