Baker Furniture speaks the language of style. Not satisfied to be of the moment, the company works to be of the movement, in the role of a tastemaker and innovator rather than a follower at the whim of fashion. The accent is on product - through Design, Materials, Craftsmanship, and Finish. At the beginning, a craftsman named Siebe Baker worked with his hands.

I purchased a Bernhardt cocktail table from Grindstaff back in late November, 2020. I didn't receive it until the end of April, but an explanation is required. Apparently many of the Yelp reviewers who blamed Grindstaff about extended shipping times for their purchases, didn't understand why furniture orders can take up to six months. Let me explain.
I purchased this table from Grindstaff because the price was significantly lower than the price I was quoted from a design company in Laguna Beach, CA near where I live. I placed the order a week before Thanksgiving. Bernhardt and other companies like them often close for at least a week. Then in December they shut down for 2-4 weeks which means the order could sit for close to 6 weeks assuming the product is in inventory.
Keep in mind that furniture industry along with so many others was devastated by the Covid virus since so many of the products are manufactured in Asia. Once the product is in stock it is sent to a trucking company for delivery. In my situation the trucking company ships to California once a month. Because I failed to confirm that the shipping date was acceptable to me, I missed the first scheduled delivery.
The next one headed to California was 6 weeks later. How could I expect Grindstaff to know the exact shipping date when so few companies were working and with reduced personnel. If I want to order a product made in Asia now in May, the lead time is up to nine months. Unless I am buying product from a national furniture company that maintains significant inventory, it's going to take a long time to get product. That's the way the furniture business works, and Covid is still a huge factor that affects product availability.
I found the folks at Grindstaff to be very professional and cordial, and I am totally satisfied with the end result. I saved a significant amount of money on the product that I purchased, and I understand the reasons for the extended delivery time. I would have no hesitation to order from Grindstaff again. Finally regarding the company's policy of requiring a 50 percent deposit with the order and the balance when the product is ready to be shipped.
In California, furniture dealers require that the full price be paid at the time the order is placed especially when purchasing from a high end manufacturer. That's the way it goes unless you're purchasing from a low end chain store.

I purchased a Bernhardt cocktail table from Grindstaff at a very competitive price in mid November, 2020. Because of the holiday period for Thanksgiving and Christmas and the effect Covid had on companies like Bernhardt and the shipping industry the product was not available for shipping until late February/March 2021. The shipper West Express left me a voicemail message that the product was ready for delivery and that I needed to confirm that I would be available on the scheduled delivery date.
I missed the voicemail that was left for me on a Thursday and didn't learn until Saturday that I needed to confirm the date. When I called on Monday to confirm, I was told that the truck headed for California had already left, and my table was not on it. The next truck headed my way was not for another 5 weeks. I was very unhappy about this, but it wasn't Grindstaff's fault, but rather the shipper.
A two day advance voicemail is totally unacceptable, nor had there been an attempt to leave a second voicemail, an email, or a text. Five weeks later I received a call from West informing me the delivery date would be April 29 or 30 and asking for a confirmation that was acceptable. I was also told I would receive notification of the specific day a week in advance which I did confirming an April 30 delivery date between 9:00 a.m. and noon.
On April 30, the driver called to tell me delivery would be between 9:15 a.m. By 9:30 the product had been delivered, unwrapped, cleaned, and placed in the room. I paid West for the shipping with a Cashier Check. Five months from purchase to delivery. During that time I had called Grindstaff several times and was told the reason for the delay was Bernhardt, Covid, and West.
All of which was true and beyond Grindstaff's control. For the last two days my wife and I get up in the morning, admire that table, and thank Grindstaff for incredible pricing.

Wow! What a furniture store! I was amazed at the selection. Doug, the store representative that greeted me, was kind and let me explore the store on my own. So any lovely pieces of furniture and home decor items. It is almost overwhelming. On a warm late summer afternoon, the a/c kept the temperature in the store pleasant. Social distancing was being practiced. Lots to see. I made my first visit today. Plan to go back again soon.

80,000 square feet of fine, exquisitely crafted furniture at very reasonable prices. The Staff is extremely knowledgeable and very helpful. No pressure, you can roam to your heart's content. I particularly was enthralled with the wall art on display. A fixture in Forest City for over 7 decades.well worth the visit.

I love furniture and they have beautiful pieces. It's great to go in and just browse. They have nice rooms set up and it's way larger than it looks from the road. There are rooms below the main level and there's another showroom out back across the street. I do buy from them on occasion, they offer free delivery, and good service. Go see for yourself.

There are several reviews submitted years ago on Yelp that were highly critical of at least one person associated with this business. Because our experience with other sales associates at Grindstaff's was so different, it seems only fair to take this opportunity to laud their professionalism. Initially, we inquired about the number/manufacturers of executive office chairs this business had on the sales floor.
This telephone conversation made us aware of nine chairs immediately available for viewing. We asked the person (La Verna) if she would sit in those chairs and report back to us about her preference(s). She did that immediately and confirmed two or three of these chairs were very comfortable and might be desirable choices for us. With that advance information, we took the two-hour trip to Forest City to evaluate the chairs ourselves.
The one chair we had initially inquired about turned out to be a winner. Two other chairs, just as La Verna suggested, were good choices, too. We purchased our initial preference--a rich-looking, high quality leather chair. While there, we discovered a unique mirror. Another associate (Sonja) assisted us by providing measurements and answering questions.
The mirror was added to our purchase. We expect both to be delivered with white-glove service in less than two weeks. We will update this review only if that does not occur. Our overall experience to date is highly favorable with two very professional sales associates. Furthermore, we did receive additional price markdowns as both of these items were included in their August sales promotions. This review is written by an individual with no connection to this business. No special accommodations not accorded to all customers were offered or requested.

I am so glad that I did NOT read any of the reviews before I purchased from Grindstaff's Interiors- My experience was great! Living in South Florida I was skeptical about the prices quoted as they were much less than I was quoted here, however, it was an easy and pleasant experience! I was able to reach people at the store when I had questions and my furniture was delivered earlier than anticipated! I would have no qualms about ordering from them in the future!

FRAUD ALERT! Tammy McCracken, presents reduced price, then requires cashiers check or bank transfer. You will never reach her on the phone or via internet again after they have your money. If you get any fraction of your order, it will be many, many long painful months later. No different than typical internet fraud from Indonesia. It's repulsive knowing they prey on hard working Americans.
And I mean Tammy McCracken 's Grindstaff. A pathological liar, glib and unconscionably thieving. The other reviews are correct. Your fingers will bleed from dialing the phone. No one will let you speak to her after your money is gone. Feel free to call and ask why she rips off elderly shoppers. 828-245-4263 Message me if you want more details.

I placed an order for a console the first week of Dec 2017. It is now Feb 26th and still have not received. You need to have patience to deal with Grindstaff as well as time to make many phone calls. This piece was supposedly easily to obtain when I ordered it. No phone calls updating me on anything. As a matter of fact, at the time or ordering I also ordered fabric samples for a custom bed.
The first week of Jan I had to call and reorder those samples as they had no idea what happened to the first request. Extremely frustrating experience. Unfortunately, I am not able to write a review based on the product yet.

I am updating my review. If I could give no stars to Grindstaffs I certainly would. The sofa that we waited months to have delivered was damaged by their delivery company. To save room on their truck they removed the sofa from the pallet and box it was on. When they brought it down from the truck, they rested it on the back leg which broke from the weight.
The delivery people tried to conceal the damage by doing a cheap "repair" in the parking lot. The brought it in to my mother's apartment (she is elderly) and placed it so the damage to the leg was not apparent. They later blamed the damage on Hickory Chair Furniture! Grindstaffs would not stand behind this. Hickory Chair was wonderful and agreed to repair the sofa without charging us. Grindstaffs insisted on having the same delivery company pick up and return the sofa.
Since we had paid over $1500 for custom fabric, we objected to having them touch the sofa again. We did not trust them and did not want any additional damage to happen. Grindstaffs used to be a reputable company, but no longer. I believe that Hickory Chair was so disgusted with their handling of our case that they no longer allow them to sell their furniture.

I purchased a Bernhardt media chest from Grindstaff's Interiors. I was very nervous since I am located in St. Louis Mo and they are in N.C. but Tammy helped me with my purchase and was very kind and helpful. I looked online and saw that they had good marks with the BBB etc. After my payments were recieved they sent my info to trucking co and they said it would be 3-5 wkks but it was in my living room 1 week later!
True to their word it was "white glove service" and very professional trucking company. The piece was prettier in person and I saved a ton of money! I could have ordered it from a local furniture store but they wanted $700,00 more for the same exact piece! I had it within a month of purchase and Shannon in the service dept of Grindstaff was very helpful too! Super happy with purchase and have this piece for years to come!

What a disappointment. I placed an order for outdoor furniture late Spring. Through no fault of Grindstaff, the fabric was on back order and the products weren't ready to be shipped until 7/30. That's when the wheels started to fall off the bus. I called Grindstaff 10 days later to say I still hadn't heard from the First Priority Movers.
I was so frustrated because I wanted some time to use the furniture. I was offered the one day in the whole summer that I would be out of town when they could deliver. Instead of trying to work with me Tammy the owner kept me at arms length by not returning phone calls and blaming me for not having a neighbor accept the furniture and approve delivery Furniture delivered in September. Still waiting on a cushion

I placed my order on May 27, 2014. (It took several weeks to get pricing for all my items, but that went well and the pricing is good.) I was told I would have the furniture in 6 to 8 weeks. When I called to check on the furniture, I was told it would take another 6 weeks. The store will tell you it's because I hadn't picked out a fabric for the upholstered pieces, but I made sure the furniture construction would start immediately--not be delayed-- and they'd put on the fabric on the sofa, etc. Now, all the furniture is in and has not been sent to me.
I was told the last lamp would be picked up the first week of August. I was then told the last lamp was on its way to the main trucking company. It is now two weeks later and no one knows where my furniture is physically located and when it will arrive. Soooo, if you want furniture to arrive in a reasonable amount of time, DONT GO WITH GRINDSTAFF'S INTERIORS
