Today the Mortise & Tenon is synonymous with bench-made, authentic furniture. Our client found some amazing live edge boards and wanted to design a one-of-a-kind dining room table. Live edge slabs come from full logs sliced into multiple sections and thicknesses. We used a burled maple with a pretty crazy.

Been going here for, honestly, three decades. This is the only custom shop in LA that's worth your money. Everything is bench made, one at a time, and they still manage to keep their prices reasonable. I don't know what these other reviews are talking about. Mortise is one of the best recognized builders in the southwest. After owning a bed that they made me for about 9 years, I upsized and had to sell it at a garage sale.

I got a thousand dollars for it from a random buyer simply because it was a Mortise piece and everyone who came to look at it recognized the name. Their pieces are all over just about every series that is still shot in Hollywood, because their designers are so good and have their fingers on the pulse. The best thing is, I can remember buying that sort of western rustic furniture from them back in the 90's.

And now, while they can still build that stuff, they do a ton of super slick, modern and industrial designs that show how nimble they are. They've totally changed with the times, adapting to use metal and glass and exotics. Love these guys.

We are considering a legal claim. Its that bad. Custom dining table and chairs are all cracked, scratch if you look at them funny. The table leaf isnt level and doesnt latch in properly. Five figures for a custom set and Ive got what is essentially firewood. I want a refund. Impossible to communicate or work with. I truly cant believe theyre in business.

A bright spot in the difficult year of 2020, was the online discovery of this wonderful company on the west coast! Having searched and searched for a beachy, natural, unmanufactured looking coffee table with the design elements and in the size that I envisioned, I somehow stumbled onto this website. As I perused the offerings, I could hardly contain my excitement when I happened upon the Postobello Coffee Table.

In learning that it could be created in any size, and in multiple finishes, I promptly reached out to the company, and was greeted by Maite Garcia. From that moment forward, her guidance and knowledge in the steps necessary to ensure that my own vision could actually be translated into reality inspired a deep-seated confidence that convinced me that this rather large purchase could actually be navigated satisfactorily from the other side of the country.

The table was delivered yesterday, and I am beyond thrilled with the results! It is perfect in every way, and EXACTLY what I had in mind! It is the focal point of my beach bungalow living room - truly gorgeous in the relaxed casual style that I was looking for! I settled upon the bleached Douglas fir with light brown stain and a flat lacquer finish in a sizable 46" x 46" square dimension.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Maite, for your wisdom and for being so personable, and thank you to the outstanding craftsmen at Mortise & Tenon for making my dream come true!

Terrible customer service! We purchased a custom kitchen table and other items from this company. The table's surface (which is only 4 years old) has recently become "sticky". It is so strange. Any type of paper (napkins, paper towels, printer paper, newspaper, etc) will adhere to it and literally has to be pulled off. We have not used any unusual cleaner or done anything besides normal table uses.

We called Maite and explained what was going on, expecting that they would stand behind their product and offer to fix the defective table at no charge (considering the cost of the table and that we are a repeat customer). That was not the case! She said they could resurface it, however she would charge us $500, plus shipping. A high end company furniture company like this (which charges thousands for their pieces) should guarantee their items and take care of their customers. I will never work with them again and do not recommend them at all!

I highly recommend Mortise and Tenon and would order from them again. I ordered a custom made reclaimed fir table from Mortise and Tenon. The table turned out beautifully! It exceeded my expectations. It is solid reclaimed wood with a beautiful finish. Maite with Mortise and Tenon was so nice to work with. She was quick to respond and kept me informed of the project's progress.

I received wood samples to approve the table's finish and it turned out exactly as specified. The table was shipped across the country to me and was delivered into my kitchen. The whole process went smoothly and quickly. I ordered the table in January and received by March.

Local manufacturers of fine furnishings. After 27 years in business they are closing their doors. Everything is marked BELOW cost so please do not ask for further discounts. These are terrific people starting their new journey in life. Please help them get there and walk away with some beautiful high quality furniture.

5.0 star rating 8/14/2014 We worked with David via email and phone to order a reclaimed wood dining table for our 10 yr wedding anniversary. David was very helpful and answered all of our questions along the way. He even gave advice on how to determine what size table would be appropriate for our dining room and, after the purchase, advice on what chair style would go well with the table.

We chose Mortise and Tenon, over some other companies which were closer to us and cheaper, because of the artisan craftsmanship we could see in their designs and products on their website. It did feel strange to order a large piece of furniture from a company we discovered online and that we could not see or feel, but as we worked with David we were confident that it would be just what we wanted.

Our table arrived this week and we are so glad we chose Mortise and Tenon. You can almost picture the carpenters hands working to make it. It is SO beautiful. The table is exactly what we wanted and feels like a center piece of our home. We are already thinking ahead to what we could order for our 20th anniversary.
