Coming from a family of educators, artists and amateur woodworkers, our founder, Carlos Taylor-Swanson has a professional woodworking background that stretches back 40 years to a Chicago area picture framing shop and follows a circuitous route through the art world, rough and finish carpentry and luxury yacht interiors. But the influences and inspirations stretch back even further. Taylor-Swanson has always been a maker. He recalls as a 12 year old, building a clubhouse in his parents' back yard that grew big enough to attract the attention of the city's planning department.

The focus of this article is about the collaboration of our client and his architect son. It was a Father's Day publication. Our role in this project included fabrication of the cabinetry throughout the home, fabrication of all of the interior doors and the unique front door. The living room and den both have identical, back-to-back AV cabinets with bi-fold, steel faced doors integrated alongside the steel faced fireplace surround. This project is an excellent example of Madera's skill in crafting unique, custom designs.

We have teamed up with many mills throughout the region and we have access to responsibly harvested, regionally sourced, urban woods.

Here are the before and after photos of the job they did for us. It's an incredible transformation. We researched a lot of companies before we settled on them and we couldn't be happier. From the smallest detail or question they were prompt, professional and timely. We have never been so happy with a contracted job especially with all the covid problems, delays and shortages.
