Seemed like a fun spot for an ice cream stop and the building itself has an interesting and rich history. However, after ordering a few scoops of ice cream I could absorb more details while waiting. the counter smelled of dirty bleach water and the workspace behind the counter is in need of a deep clean. It is very cluttered and kinda gross. We skipped the cherries because they appeared to me like an old science experiment sort of rotting away on the shelf. Also, the server seemed very annoyed, impatient and didn't have her hair tied back nor did I see her wash her hands after coughing and handling cash. Gross!

Now, I have been to the Main Street Collectors Mall & Soda Fountain before, and I must say, I cannot find any more great and positive things to say about it. For one thing, there are lots of treasures there (especially ones that those who like nostalgia often recognize, like Barbie, the Disney stuff and Hot Wheels), and that means something for everyone, too. Also, I couldn't help smiling when I saw the Pokemon trading cards (since Pokemon is one of my interests, after all). Then, there's the soda fountain; it's really neat, and it reminds me of the 1950s, which was back when the hamburgers cost something along the lines of 23 cents, and also when the girls wore poodle skirts, bobby socks and saddle shoes too.
And speaking of the soda fountain, I tried the Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream, and it was delicious (or "c'est magnifique, " as they say in French). Plus, I smiled in delight when I saw the placard in front of one spot at the soda fountain, which said: "The stool that is in front of this sign was once sat in by John F. Kennedy. It was before he was President.
He was also on a visit to the area, and stopped by the fountain." I did my best to imagine what that would've like been back then: John stepping over the threshold of the Perry Pharmacy (as the Main Street Collectors Mall & Soda Fountain was called back then), sitting down on one of the stools and ordering a Coca-Cola. Awesome! Anyway, I highly recommend the Main Street Collectors Mall & Soda Fountain to those who like nostalgia and soda fountains, and I give it two thumbs up. Finally, I give it five stars (although ten stars would be even better). Share

This place is TOO COOL! I loved seeing all of the different booths, all selling different things! From Star Wars, to anime, to old military gear, to old cameras, to coins, to magazines, to beer advertisements, to collectors dishes, if there's something collectible, this place would be a good place to start looking for it. Just be sure to set aside some time, because there is so much stuff, that you'll likely get sucked into checking everything out. I walked in, not knowing what to expect and ended up buying an old Weird Tales magazine and framed it. I will definitely be going back when I have some time to kill.

There is no shortage of vintage and thrift stores in the Portland area, but Main Street collectors was a particularly nice one. There's a small soda fountain in the back that serve sandwiches and shakes. We didn't have anything to eat, but will be back to grab some food and check out all of the awesome knick knacks up for sale
