The year was 1931. On a corner lot on Santa Monica Blvd, our Grandfather Robert Wertz, founded Wertz Brothers Furniture. Through generation after generation, the Wertz Family was soon operating up to 4 locations throughout the greater Los Angeles area. In 1994, Mike and Larry Jr purchased the business from their father. Now with a new generation leading the charge at Wertz Brothers, Michael and Ryan Wertz continue to carry on the proud family tradition of showcasing some of the finest local furnishings and collectibles.

I've both bought from and sold to Wertz, and both experiences leave a fair amount to be desired. On the buy side, their pricing is all over the place. Most pieces are ridiculously overpriced, and others are oddly (and very rarely) underpriced. Generally, their selection is not thoughtfully curated and is more an opportunistic amalgamation of someone's dead grandmother's furniture.
On the sell side, don't expect anything less than Pawn Stars level low balling. I sold them a vintage piece that they immediately turned around and marked up 400%+. This was after assuring me they don't mark up aggressively. On both sides, the customer service is as dusty as the furniture. Don't expect to have a conversation on pricing flexibility: you'll get a blank stare and a canned/smug "we don't negotiate" response. Don't let the mirage of convenience and selection fool you. There are much better vintage furniture stores in East LA.

Amazing selection that changes daily of vintage furniture. The prices are reasonable and the team there is helpful at answering questions. I am on the look for a new bed frame and wish I would have stopped by before I got my dressers. Also they recommended other local stores while I was looking for hardware- in my opinion that's a sign of people really knowing and caring about their business

My husband and I just moved to LA from Colorado. We were looking for several pieces we hadn't brought with us from Denver for replacements and wanted something unique. We purchased a pottery barn media table. that I'm in love with. 2 nightstands. And an outdoor sofa that I am so excited to get on our balcony and create a year round outdoor space! It's all being delivered next Tuesday and we are over the moon! We will definitely be going back to shop new items added. It truly is a candy store for adults shopping vintage and unique.

Huge warehouse full of antique & used furniture. They have a lot of unique things so it's fun to look around. However, some of their furniture is in pretty bad condition given the high prices they are charging. I think they would be a lot more successful if they put some restoration work into their inventory before trying to sell it.

My daughter purchased a real wood (not particle board) media cabinet here. They have a great selection of used furniture from various periods. They have something from just about any modern era. Delivery is also available. The delivery people did a perfect job delivering my daughter's media cabinet. I hope to purchase from Wertz again in the future. It's important to note that there is ample off street free parking behind the store.

We love this place! What a great and huge selection of vintage, antique, mid century modern and collectible furniture. Having purchased most of the furniture for our first condo at their old store in Van Nuys nearly thirty years ago, we went back for more at the Santa Monica store when we bought our house. Now were ready to redecorate and can't wait to see what we find now, knowing in advance they have so much it will be hard to decide!

The selection of furniture pieces is amazing! I came into the store with all the dimensions I required and got right to work. One stock/delivery? man offered me assistance when needing a small dresser brought down from the wall. Other than him, no one else approached me. I took photos of the possible purchase and then asked a lady at the counter if the prices and delivery are negotiable.
She said no. I told her the 2 pieces I am considering seemed a little costly. She did not even ask me what I had found, possibly leading me to a less pricey piece. I just was left standing. It is a shame because I AM IN THE market to buy and she missed an opportunity to connect. I will not be returning to this store. SHE LOST A SALE!

If you want an unusual or period item, this is the place! They have an incredibally large inventory of every style and size of furniture imaginable along with random architectural & decor items. Come here for quality pieces, not the cheap disposable stuff. Most prices fit the Los Angeles market value although I did found several pieces for my daughter's apartment that were very resaonable for my budget.
Spend a few hours just browsing the 2 floors; its an education in design history! Staff is friendly and helpful, and their facebook page posts some of their latest unusual finds.

This is the best furniture consignment store I've ever been to in LA! For starters, Wertz Brothers occupies two gigantic floors in a warehouse that feels more like a storage headquarters for movie props. If you're into antiquing, you could easily treasure hunt for hours. They sell everything from classic antiques to contemporary decor, including couches, nightstands, rugs, dressers, chairs, lamps, art, and so much more. Wertz Brothers must be experienced in person! It's an eclectic (all styles), affordable (all price points) and eco-friendly alternative to buying new (and overpriced!) home furniture. Pro Tips: - All of the items are marked individually and prices cannot be negotiated - There's a small fee if you need them to deliver the piece (s) to your home - Take measurements at home before you come treasure hunting at Wertz!

Wow this place has everything as far as antique furniture. Honestly their is something for everyone here, all different styles. Plus they have painting, wood furniture, mirror, chandeliers, bed sets up, tons of antiques and trinkets, vintage chairs and sofas, coffee tables and dining room tables. Also they have a friendly safe that is very helpful.
I dig the homely vibe here with the parrots in the middle of the store greeting people. Truly a experience going to this old time Santa Monica furniture store. Like stepping into the past.

If you have furniture to sell them, you may want to consider other options. Apart from what I've heard about offering low prices, their customer service (and the whole system for buying furniture) is a total joke. I had an entire house full of of my late-father's furniture to sell to Wertz Bros, and I thought it would be an easy process.but it's not. First, I went to their website and got all the info on selling them furniture.
Under selling "a house full" (rather than just gong by their store to sell a single dresser or table), their site says to either send photos online, "or contact our representative and our buyers will come to your residence for a free bid". So I called, only to be interrupted by their representative, and I was told in no uncertain terms that I could NOT speak to anyone about selling them furniture.that they ONLY way they will do it is for me to take photos, and send to their special "buyer's" email address.
I still asked again to speak to someone anyway, to see what kinds of things they were looking for, so I wouldn't waste my time (but was told "no - you have to send in photographs". Ok -so I took "room photos" (a few angles from each room) and realized that you can't see from the photos all the different items in some of the rooms (which were very crowded with furniture). So, in addition to sending them these photos, I also sent them an inventory/list of the major pieces I had to sell (I had over 60-70 different items to sell).
I sent off my email, and within 24 hours I got a reply -- unfortunately is was a canned/pre-written 2-sentence response, that thanked me for sending photos of my "item(s)" (obviously the same email is used if you have one piece of furniture to sell, or 100). The letter also said that they weren't interested in making a bid (claiming that the "styles are hard to sell").
I was disappointed to say the least, since (a) I wasted a lot of time taking photos and making a detailed inventory; and (b) I had called to ask to speak to someone specifically to avoid this exact situation. But since they apparently ONLY will discuss these things via email (despite what their own website says) I had to send a reply to ask any follow up questions.
So I wrote back and said that I understood they may not want the whole house full of furniture, but I asked if there was ANY individual item or items that they might still want to buy (since there was no single style of my dad's furniture.it was all very expensive and high quality, but came from a bunch of different places and were of varied designs).
If they were truly actively buying furniture at this time, I can't imagine that every single piece of furniture (of the 60-70 pieces that I sent them) would be "too hard to sell". Unfortunately, it's been days since I sent my follow up, and they haven't bothered even replying. I realize they are not obligated to buy anything from me, but they shouldn't give people conflicting/inaccurate information on your website about the process of selling.and more importantly, they should be more respectful of people's time.if their representative on the phone had simply allowed me to speak with a buyer (as their website suggested I do) he or she could have told me that they were currently full on inventory, or only taking certain items, and I wouldn't have wasted the hours I did with this stupid emailing if photos. Overall, I would not recommend selling them any furniture based on my own experience.
Perhaps others have fared better (since they have a showroom full of furniture to sell), but I give Wertz Bros. a very low rating based mostly on poor customer service/interaction (both on the phone, and due to inaccurate website instructions).

You can spend double on poorly manufactured unassembled furniture, or you can browse the wonderful and ever changing selection of quality wood and antique pieces offered at Wertz Brothers Furniture. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful and accommodating to your delivery needs. I've purchased two amazing pieces that will stay a part of my collection for a lifetime. No haggling needed, because you always get a great deal. And the giant warehouse of goods makes that search for the right piece feel like a great find.

Wertz Brothers Furniture, a family owned business since 1931is the real deal, I kid you not. Check out their website on Yelp before you visit the store like I did and you'll be suitably impressed. In square footage this establishment is just slightly smaller than a football field full of furniture, full of great furniture ready to grace your home, some pieces pregnant with potential for your designing eye to restore, plus collectables. Oh, and the helpful staff and resident parrots are pretty cool too. Hubby and I spent nearly an hour roaming, searching upstairs and downstairs for just the right armoire to fill the space where kitty's tree and "condo" lived in our bedroom prior to her death mid December.
We took measurements, brought them with us along with our retractable tape measure but unfortunately the pieces that were the right scale weren't the right width and depth. The search continues. Nonetheless, I'm glad we explored Wertz Brothers Furniture and would definitely return to either buy or sell in the future. Meters on Santa Monica Boulevard. Parking also available behind the store.

Awesome furniture collection and constantly adding new items. I walked in, explained what type of dresser were looking for and Ryan walked me straight to the right one. Delivery was cheaper than every other furniture store we visited and they arrived during the first 30 minutes of the 2 hour window provided. They also have a bird that hangs out outside of its cage and says hello when you walk in.

If you're looking for gorgeous, handmade, sturdy, and investment/heirloom furniture, this is your place. It's a huge store, with the lower level having dining room and bedroom furniture, while the upstairs has things like couches, cribs, lamps, patio furniture, mattresses, smaller side tables, and some desks. The styles run the gamut from Victorian to modern.
I love that I can say to an employee, "I'm looking for a Craftsman piece, what do you have in?" or "Do you have a mid-century modern dresser?" and they've always been able to tell me what they have and where in the store it is. Their prices, while not cheap, are very fair. Sometimes, they'll print out a comp from Ebay and undercut the online Ebay price. Definitely the place to go to furnish one's home.

One of my all time favorite stores in Los Angeles, there is something for everyone! My home is mostly furnished with furniture from Wertz Brothers and I rarely leave the store empty handed even when I'm just going to browse their extremely large selection. And I can't forget the parrots! Amos and Gabby are always there to greet you, it isn't the same without Sunny's Hello though. If you're looking for quality furniture Wertz Brothers won't disappoint you!

Loyal customer of the Wertz family. I love all the employees who are all well versed in their furniture. I have learned about antiques, quality, style. A family business that is hands on. The. inventory is spectacular really. Going there is like seeing old friends. Always a joy. Happy holidays to all. See you soon.!

If you like vintage/antique furniture and live anywhere near LA, make Wertz Bros. a regular stop. I was looking for an Art Deco vanity for my GF way back in the late 1990's - before "Social" media. They didn't have what I was looking for, but one of the salespeople took my number and called me - twice - to tell me that something had come in. The. first one wasn't right, but the second, prolly six months later, was exactly what I was looking for. I think it was about $350. My (now) ex-girlfriend still has it, loves it, and has used it every day for 20+ years.

This place is just fantastic! I had forgotten the name of it and location, and was so glad when my bf escorted me to Wertz Bros. last weekend. It's one of the few places from the 80's and 90's I remember still the same. They have real antiques to modern/contemporary one of a kind pieces. I actually saw a few things in there I could have used for my office, but considering I'm all the way up in SF I don't know if I want to get into the shipping for it. However, next time I can visit with a truck, I will.
Unlike my 9 y.o. niece, I felt very sorry for the parrots who seemed ruffled and unhappy with everyone looking in on them and talking to them. That is one thing I would change about the shop, but everything else was really great.

Came here to find some furniture for my new place. I like that the warehouse is large and has an array of eclectic items. There is no real organization, but the staff is very helpful at assisting with locating what you're looking for. I picked out several items including a dresser a bed and a vanity. Things that I would suggest to be different would include having a little more reasonable pricing because some of it was way over priced for used furniture. Additionally they did mess up some things with the delivery which was a bit annoying. I would still recommend coming year if you're looking for used furniture because of how large it is.

This place is incredible and reminds me of a museum! Two floors of beautiful, unique, exotic furniture from tables, cases, sofas, chairs, art, rugs, bed, everything in between. I could spend hours just wandering through all of this treasure and taking in the details of each piece. - Keep in mind this is used/antique - Staff is friendly and helpful - Parking is available out back or metered on the street in front - There are parrots!

I have been a long time customer here and have always ended up buying a few pieces of furniture. However, I never liked their customer service. Their parrots are more friendly and welcoming than those two women working behind the counter. Today, I walked in and was looking for specific furniture. The woman didn't even look up at me when I asked a question.
She then was extremely rude and unhelpful. I was about to purchase a table when I decided to walk out. Why should I give them business when I can go somewhere else! To think that they are gettiing paid for turning away customers.disgusting. Please learn some skills from your parrots or at least imitate them.

I'm re designing my studio right now and was looking for some chairs and a coffee table (my sister and I are very into design). Positives: A ton of antiques (basically everything you need, you'll find). Lady downstairs is very sweet: brown hair/ Hispanic. Cool parrots too! Negatives : Overpriced for a second hand store. If you try to ask about a price, the pricing guy will most likely scoff and tell you you're wrong (there needs to be better customer service on that end).
Would definitely recommend this store for people that want antiques and are willing to pay the price, they have some great pieces. However, if you're looking for a deal, I recommend other second hand stores and/or Amazon and Cost Plus World Market (where you can get things new for cheap). I attached a pic so you can judge for yourself if you think it's overpriced!
