High Point Furniture Industries was founded in 1958 and remains a privately held, woman-owned business. The first products were novelty furniture items for the home (TV stands, record cabinets). High Point Furniture entered the office furniture market in 1963 with the introduction of the first budget-priced 100 Series wood desk.
Business environments are becoming community spaces where furniture supports the gathering and exchanging of ideas. Today's business leaders and designers are creating more "team centered" business models that revolve around gathering, problem solving and group discussion. Even traditional private office spaces need furniture that functions to support spontaneous collaboration.
The days of the chair and desk are gone from higher education; now learning environments are community spaces where furniture supports the gathering and exchanging of ideas.
