We couldn't be happier with our decision to purchase a sofa from Fly By Night. We had heard a lot of good things about them and wanted to buy from a local shop. The folks waiting on us were patient with our decision-making, helpful, informative and easy to communicate with. There are plenty of choices and price points in this shop, so it's definitely worth it to stop in.

From start to finish it was a great experience. The Fly By Night showroom staff were fantastic. No pressure, no sales pitches. Just informative and very helpful. Picked out what we wanted and within two weeks we had our furniture delivered and set up. The gentleman that delivered were fantastic. Educated us on how to care for the wood, and what to expect with ageing of the wood. Now as far as the furniture goes. We LOVE it! It's beautifully simple, solid and sexy! We have been looking for quality wooden furniture for several months and finally made it out to Fly by Night. Within minutes of entering their Northampton storefront we found exactly what we had been imagining (in stock!) and received prompt, professional, and friendly service putting our order in and scheduling delivery. The scheduling team (John) was responsive and friendly and the delivery team was prompt, courteous, left no trace, and even left us with simple instructions on how to care for our new beautiful furniture with encouragement to contact them should we have questions down the road. Strongly recommend Fly by Night. We will surely look to them first in the future!

The sales team has great energy, showcasing quality products, and no one is on commission! No need to worry about furniture retailers jumping down your throat for a sale! Delivery was only $50 and their delivery team stayed fully masked, assembled all furniture, and left it cleaner than it was when they got there! Their delivery team was also flexible in changing our drop-off date. My wife and I (and our dog) love the new couch, table, and chair and would shop here again!

I love this store! The furniture they have is beautiful and the choice of fabrics is extensive. We have purchased three major items recently and are very pleased with the quality. Because of the supply issues we have had to wait a while for two of the items but they were well worth the wait. All the employees we have met have been wonderful to work with in the store and for delivery. I highly recommend this store.

I am super surprised at these low Yelp reviews. It's interesting to compare the 3 stars here to the 4.5 on Google which feels way more accurate based on how positive my experience has been. We bought two beds from Fly By Night which are beautiful and which were delivered in a timely fashion by two kind and efficient folks. Will 100% be returning.

My wife and I (with three children) furnished our house from Fly by Night. We love the clean, rich look of all-hardwood furniture. Its timeless appeal has also survived various decorating phases, from cozy (with lots of stuff) to Marie Kondo. The quality of materials and craftsmanship can't be beat. The furniture has withstood years of use and abuse by children (then teenagers).

My eldest has demanded to take her bedroom furniture with her when she gets her first apartment after college. The staff at Fly by Night have been there for many years. This means they know their stuff. It also means they're treated right by owners (Richard and Gary) who respect people, source nationally, and keep packaging and environmental footprint to a minimum.

The people who work here genuinely care about quality furniture and quality customer experiences. I personally know the Fly By Night team, and I respect their authentic efforts to not only help us find the furniture we needed, but also carry the best quality furniture available. Most of the vendors they have here are American made & small business run, with a select handful of those companies being local and talented individuals who work personally with the owners of FBN.

Many of their futon frames are made locally! My favorite collection is the Noho bedroom set, handmade out of solid cherry or walnut by an Amish family that is friends with Richard, one of the owners. He worked with them on the design to create a durable and sturdy collection within a very modest price point. I must admit, the owner can come off as a little intense, but he genuinely cares about the product and how you relate to it.

Trust me, He means well. The most notable aspects of this business; -Wonderfully considerate selection of styles & price points. -Each and every piece is curated to best fit the standard that Fly By Night and the pioneer valley holds. -Each price is bottom line- always! -The employees are not on commission=low pressure sales, & everyone who works here is so kind! -SMALL. This is a nice store that carries some nice lines. For the most part the sales associates are knowledgeable and personable. Over the years we've bought several pieces from them. In the most recent case the delivery time went from 4 to 5 weeks to over 10 with no follow up or explanation. At 8 weeks we went in to ask about the delivery status and happened upon the guy who seems to be the owner - terrible attitude /customer service skills. Seemed to want to fight. My impression is that he's burnt out -- probably time to retire. Delivery guys were nice as well.

I went to fly by night because I thought it was a high end futon store. We were looking for a queen futon mattress. I wanted a quality mattress (which I got). As we were checking out the man at the register made us second guess ourselves on the measurements. I specially ordered a queen size futon. He said most queen frames are really full. This made us confused.

We ended up buying a full size when we clearly needed a queen. When we get home and unpacked the mattress of course It I didn't fit. I called the store to explain the situation. This is what I got instead "I hope you didn't take it out of the box (of course we did how did we know if it fit or not) Well you know a mattress is like that underwear once you take it out of the package you can send it back".

The comment was totally uncalled for. I was not asking them to take the mattress back. What I wanted to know is the size of a queen mattress. The "gentleman" that answered the phone was extremely unprofessional. Who says that? I will never buy anything from that store again.

Fly By Night is a great place to shop for any room of the house. Our bedroom and living room furniture all came from there and we are thrilled with both rooms. The employees are helpful, knowledgeable and patient. They pulled out oodles of fabric samples from which to choose and told me the benefits and drawbacks of each. Their honesty is refreshing. They kept me in the loop on the delivery times and all went smoothly. When we re-decorate the next room, we are definitely going back.

Fly by Night Furniture goes above and beyond when it comes to customer service. I've been a customer for a few years and find the staff extremely helpful with product selection. Quality and unique furniture. We have bought several items here and have always been very happy with our whole experience. It's the only place we like to shop for furniture!

Went in prepared to buy a couch and mattress but left after forty mins because no one waited on me.

We ordered a couch from here for our new home. The custom fabric selections are amazing. The prices are not cheap, but fair for the quality. The service was so-so: we got better attention as young shoppers once they realized we were ready to drop a couple thousand dollars today. They require at least half down on custom ordered pieces, and we were told it would take "around 6 weeks" to be done.

At 6 weeks, I called to check, and was told it should be on the way. Another week, no word. Called again. This time, got a snotty response "we'll call you when it's in." Pardon me for checking on my paid for and now overdue furniture. It arrived at 9 weeks. It was delivered with no paperwork or proof of warranty, and Norwalk states their warranty starts upon delivery.

So while I'm happy with the couch itself, I'm not thrilled with the service, especially after the sale. I may look to see who else is a Norwalk dealer in the future nearby.

We made a big purchase at this furniture store - 2 arm chairs, a large rug and a book case that we use to hide all the unsightly technology that goes with having a TV. The whole experience was completely satisfying. The chairs were custom made for us by a manufacturer called Lee. The owner of the store called Gary - an interesting character was so helpful.

We took the cushions with us from the other furniture in the room to use to match off, and Gary worked through the hundreds of colors and textures to come up with a design that so completely matched what we needed. The feet on the armchairs had the option of brass rollers, which we were delighted with. They estimated 6 weeks. I called when 6 weeks were up, and the chairs had arrived on time.

The rug is amazing - again Gary help us with the colors - it's an Anastacia design, and we'll be enjoying it for many years to come. If you need top quality furniture, with helpful, knowledgable service these are the people to go see. They are not the cheapest, but are not interested in buying the cheapest furniture. Now I'm a customer, I won't go anywhere else - why because I'm a snob, and I like the best.

We ordered a futon bed and frame and they delivered an incorrect piece for the frame. When I called and asked that the correct one be delivered, I was told they'd do it tomorrow. I said that my wife was 8-plus months pregnant, and without the bed frame we would be sleeping on the floor. The owner said there was no one to deliver it. I asked him why he couldn't deliver it.

He said "I have a basketball game tonight." When the piece eventually arrived, the owner (RZ) asked me to return the incorrect piece that they had sent. So he wanted me to make a special trip to correct their mistake, but he wouldn't make a special trip to correct his own mistake. My wife and I slept on the floor, but he got to go to his basketball game.

I found awesome Shaker office furniture at Fly by Night-simple, classic, and great quality at incredibly reasonable prices. A nice reprieve from stuffy office suite sets and cheap Ikea crap. My mother loved the pieces so much that she went back and bought the same writing desk for my sister. The staff were great and delivery was a breeze.

I'm going to have to disagree with two of the three folks here and give Fly By Night a great review. I've watched them expand over the past decade and have cheered them on - in a world of strip malls, chain stores and cheap Chinese products, isn't it great when a locally owned business selling locally made products does well? They have impeccable taste in what they carry, and guess what - quality ain't cheap. I've always gotten friendly service and it's clear that these people are informed and passionate about what they sell.

I can't go five stars because they ARE pricey and you DO have to sometimes wait a long period of time to get your (um, handmade) purchase. If they offered a slightly wider range of price points and a financing option I'd give them that last star. But overall, a nice alternative to the Raymour & Flannigans of the world.

We love Fly By Night and have bought practically ALL the furniture in our house there over the past 10 years. Why? We always have salespeople who are knowledgeable, friendly, and low key. There is never any pressure to buy, and they have no trouble answering questions when you are "just looking." We have used their design help and been completely delighted by the advice and special attention we received.

They have a great selection of contemporary and more classic styles, and the inventory changes frequently. I just can't say enough about the quality of the furniture we have bought there and the way the store stands behind what they sell. Whenever I have had a question or concern about a piece, they send somebody right over and they are courteous and responsive. These are people you can trust.

We recently purchased several major pieces. They arrived more or less within the time frame we were told (for the most part furniture does seem to take 8-12 weeks as far as I can tell no matter where you get them from) and we love them. I feel you pretty much get what you pay for with furniture. We actually drove all the way out to Raymour and Flanigan because of some sticker shock, but realized the quality and styles there were just not acceptable to us.

We did have an issue with the quality of one of the pieces when it was first delivered but the owner was really on top of the situation and resolved the problem for us right away. We got excellent help choosing fabrics too and other decorating advice. One thing I also really appreciated was the wide and interesting selection. Lots of great contemporary pieces, although we ended up buying more traditional furniture. Overall we are very happy!

Snobby and smug. I waited forever for a special order, they kept saying it would be there "next week" every time I called. In the end they refused to refund my money or even apologize, they even yelled at me on the phone! Steer clear.

Stylish, modernist upholstered furniture the likes of which can't be found in the Capital District. I saw a couch (http://youngerfurniture.com/40505.jpg) here by Younger Furniture (http://youngerfurniture.com/) and looked all around the greater Albany area -- turns out they're one of the few distributors in the NE. So I rented a U-Haul trailer -- it was well worth taking a day to drive out there given the selection. Really, though, I just wanted to post some pictures of my hot new couch and funky new chair. I feel like George Jetson when I sit in it.
