Was ready to spend some money on vacation although most of the stuff I could make myself but didn't get 10 feet into the store and some pretentious old hag yelled at my son for touching a wooden chess piece (WOODEN!)and told him he could break it. There was not one sign saying do not touch (I looked). So out we went. You don't talk to my son who's 9 btw and very well behaved like that. Will never go back. Thanks for listening.

Spent hours in the big chain stores and couldn't find anything we liked. Then Ben's came up on a search. Really? A furniture store on Thames Street in Newport? Yup, and it's great! Fell in love with everything! Our challenge went from trying to find something we liked to having to choose among the many things we liked. Bought the family room furniture yesterday. Thank you, Ben's!

Was a really cool place to be at however a lot of the stuff that they had somebody could easily make it's those cheap easy chachkies that keep places like this in business year-round I'm sure that if someone were to make some of the things they have there themselves it would probably be very easy but at the same time as a local resident I could see how this could have a lot of appeal to the masses that are the tourists even some of the furniture they have a lot of beautiful unique different things that look like they came out of a time capsule or a old folks' home lol but it's a really neat place you should check it out.

I have done business with Dave and his family for over twenty five years. They are professional with an over-and-above acuity in realm of customer service. One of their extraordinary capabilities is to join you on the path whereupon you are walking by yourself with a problem or an idea. They will join with you on your path and I, as well as many other folks I know, will experience success as a result of your journey. Ben's Furniture is one of the finest stores in Newport and has been for many, many years a distinct asset to Newport's business community as well. I am proud to be one of their longtime customers and delighted to give them a five star rating. K.C. Fisher

Rude and pretentious staff on two separate occasions. On the first visit, no greeting or help when looking for a dresser for my daughter. I had to seek out assistance for a question, only to get a snarky response. On the second visit, my wife was rudely told to leave her drink on the counter. To be fair and honest, we came into the store with drinks and missed the policy sign stating 'no drinks'. However, considering the first experience and the rude tone of the staff member, I asked to speak with the manager.
Rather than patiently listening to my concern, he quickly doubled-down on explaining how I was wrong and should have seen a small sign explaining a drink policy in a large showroom full of knick-knacks. He didn't let me get to the issue -- I was never attempting to suggest I was 'above' their policy -- I was trying to make him aware of his staff's unprofessional attitudes in making me aware of their policy.
His response was that the store had "been in business for 75 years" implying that customer service was not a primary concern nor was the feedback of a potential customer. I would suggest the store has been in business for 75 years because a) the staff has been much better in years past and/or b) our society has completely devalued customer service/response. However, if this is how a manager responds to customer input, I expect Ben's will not make it another fraction of that time. As a local Aquidneck resident, I will recommend to all my friends and neighbors to avoid this business--I suggest you avoid it too.
