Sabbath-Day Woods is a surprisingly small, family-owned woodworking business located in Asheville, North Carolina. Desmond is a second-generation woodworker with decades of woodworking skill and artistry, proudly creating the highest quality wood products for the home. Each piece is designed to be used and enjoyed today, and tomorrow, and onward by future generations. Each wood product is hand-rubbed with our exclusive lemon Beesoil. This food-safe oil seeps into the wood grain for a more durable and smoother finish.

I want to thank you for your kind words and your excellent communication about my recent order. I was not expecting such a prompt response during a holiday weekend. I am sure we will be delighted with the lamp. It will be a companion piece to the Imperial Deluxe clock that I bought from the It's By Nature shop before it closed last fall.
In many of our larger clocks (i.e. the Prairie Deluxe Mantel Clock), there is a removable back panel affixed with magnets. Our smaller clocks have a small black plastic cover over the battery compartment. Simply remove the panel or cover to access the clockworks inside. The battery and time wheel should be readily visible.

Beautiful woodwork and sooo many great gift ideas at every price point. Located right off I-40, so it's easy to find and make a quick stop, and the smell inside the showroom, of wood shavings and essential oils (from their candles) is lovely. I also love that everything is made right there, in-house.

What an awesome little business! My husband and I were on our way to Asheville and we stopped at the NC Welcome Center. We knew it was going to be a rainy week and wanted to browse the travel info for indoor options. Hubby saw a brochure for Sabbath-Day Woods so we decided to go on our way to Asheville. There were at least 5 people working that day - all we spoke with were very friendly.
We talked with the lead craftsman and he was very helpful explaining about the different woods and processes used to make the items. I decided to get a candle (my weakness) while hubby continuing chatting with the man. Finally hubby selected a clock for his office - a beautiful craftsman made out of cherry wood. After we left, I browsed their website - which is beautifully done as well. So glad we stopped in Sabbath-Day Woods as not only did we support a local family business but also bought a beautiful clock that will be cherished.

Sabbath Day Woods is a hidden treasure. Small, beautiful showroom, displaying handmade furniture as well as pottery and other one-of-a-kind items at very reasonable prices. It's a relaxed atmosphere - take time to browse and appreciate the crafts - and owned by a lovely and welcoming man who encourages you to look at your leisure. Although it's off the beaten path, it's a convenient location, just off 40.
