Services
Grand Furniture began as a small, one-store operation in downtown Norfolk, in 1947. Founded by Rose Stein, and assisted by her two sons, Grand quickly gained the reputation as a store where customers could get both quality home furnishings and honest value. These factors have been the cornerstone upon which Grand Furniture has grown.
The past few months have been difficult -- for all of us. While our country grapples with a deadly pandemic that has taken over 110,000 American lives, we are also once again confronted with the harsh realities of racial injustice. The deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor have ignited a call for justice and reform.
One of the ways that Grand Furniture gives back to our communities is serving those who are most in need: our children. At Grand Furniture, we believe that a house is not a home until you get a good night's sleep. That's why we've teamed up with local manufacturers to provide a new twin mattress set whenever a Jamestown PT or a Grand Dreams Blvd mattress is sold.
Ready to get the credit you need for the furniture you want? You've come to the right place. At Grand Furniture, we specialize in providing credit options for everyone, whether you have good credit, no credit, or bad credit. It's no problem! And, we've updated our credit process, so that we can instantly approve you without affecting your credit.

My experience with Grand Furniture was wonderful because Amber Bauance, the salesperson who helped me, ensured that I left the store with the item I visited the store to purchase. Amber went above and beyond to ensure that I found the right item, and was satisfied with the purchase. She was extremely nice and a true professional. I have never shopped at Grand Furniture, but will return because of the excellent service rendered by Amber. I am very pleased with my purchase which I call the "Technology Twin Bed." And, grateful for the referral I received from Haverty's Furniture to visit Grand Furniture.

I have dealt with Sparky as my salesman now for my second purchase. He is very friendly and helpful with making a decision that best suited me. Recommend the store and him as the sales person 1000%!

I appreciate how Woody gave us the information of sales going on when we came into store then he allowed us to walk around without bothering us. But he kept us close enough to still be able to suggest other items when we were looking unsure. I didn't feel pressured, very comfortable.

We really enjoyed our experience in this store. We were greeted by a young lady name Raven. She was fairly a new sales person there. She was very kind d & thoughtful. We were looking for a kitchen & dining room set. We did see something that we liked. The store is very clean & they have lots of different types of furniture for the household. We will be back.

Today was made easy greasy by the staff here today! Woody the floor manager was warm and inviting. happily answered all our questions about shipping, and financing. walked out with one of the newest sets on the floor. Markeda helped tie up the loose ends with a smile. and even her cubicle buddy was pleasant while we worked. Thanks team for a great experience to an often drab task!

I was visiting Virginia Beach the week before Easter. Planning on moving to the area in the near future and stopped in the store to see what it was like and what I might be interested in. Happily surprised with the selection and helpfulness of personnel, especially Asst. Manager Ed. Even though I told him I wasn't buying today, he was very knowledgeable and accommodating. I will definitely shop in this store when I move.

Told my delivery would be ready when I move down to Norfolk. Purchased in December and my move is in March. Read the paperwork and saw that it may actually take up to 16 weeks. Called today to see the status of shipment and was told the sofa will be ready but the bedroom set will take over 6 months (possibly June with no definite answer). Not sure why it will take so long.

And what changed to make the delivery so delayed. The first lady I spoke to on the phone was very rude and talking to someone else in the background. I had to ask her multiple times if she was still there or if she was talking to me or the other person. The second person gave me more answers but still went with over 6 months for delivery. Very upset the salesperson told me so many different things to convince me to buy there. Definitely getting a full refund at the 16 week mark if furniture is not delivered.

I will have to say that Grand Furniture employees were friendly and very attentive, and we bought a sleeper sofa set on July 1, 2019 and the sleeper sofa had to be ordered so it was delivered on July 22, 2019. The boards that held the sleeper attached broke from the side of the couch, so we contacted Grand about 6 months ago and was given the company info for the insurance claim and we were asked to send in pictures and we did and then about 2 months later after me calling the insurance company they sent someone out to do the exact pics we sent them. I've been calling every 2 weeks since then and have been told they were still waiting on the pics from the gentleman that came out.

So after 6 months since we started our claim, we called them again today and now they are going to send someone else out to basically do the same pics. We have books under our couch to hold it up just to sit on it. So hopefully we won't have to wait long to get this fixed.

1591 Crossways Blvd Chesapeake, VA 23320 Purchased the Sealy Posture-pedic Queen Adjustable Base from this company, only. Because the Queen Adjustable Base was inoperative, with the warranty, a new base was selected along with a new warranty. The new base was of a far lesser quality in comparison to Sealy Posture-pedic Base purchased base - so very disappointed! Additionally, I was not informed that the delivery did not include the removal of the original base. Who purchases a warranty to secure something of inferior quality? Cannot recommend this company

If I could give this store less than one be star I would. Ordered bedroom furniture in June and was told it would be in by the 1st week of August. Received a text at the end of July that furniture would be delivered the following Monday. When the truck arrived the only thing delivered was the mattress. Called the store and received a run around. Had to call numerous times before being told the furniture was back ordered and wouldn't be in till late August.

Late August came and went with no communication from the store. Visited the store on 9-1-20 and was told the set would be in on 9/4. 9/4 came and went. We received a call on 9/8 letting us know the furniture would not be in until January 2021. We are now sitting in the store trying to get a refund and are getting another run around. They have no idea what customer service is and think if they ignore us, we will go away. That's not going to happen.

My next stop will be to file a complaint with BBB. Once I get my money back, I will never step foot in another grand furniture store as long as I live and I will make sure to tell anyone that is buying furniture to avoid this store like the plague. You may be able to blame a bit of this on COVID-19 but you can't blame lousy customer service on a virus.

Okay. The world is sick, but that isn't gonna stop me from looking for a new couch. ----- walking in. You walk in and are immediately attacked by multiple vultures who are itching to just get that commission. I recommend the store play some Tay-tay."you need to calm down." That shit is annoying. +++ the set up. Typical furniture store where there is shit EVERYWHERE.

There is a plethora of stuff, but you can just walk around for a little bit and stop if you see something you like. ------- price match. I already knew what couch I wanted and had a pic. The employee violated the six foot rule to look at my phone.thats right, a rebel baby! He showed me where it was.it was $1550. He said there is some sale going on, and with a military discount, I could get it for 1200.

Hold up.i found it online for $885, he went for the second violation to see my phone.will they price match? No? Okay. Hasta la pasta. Always look to see if you can get it online, but plop your ass on there and get some feels to see if you like it.but when you do, go online and buy it. I get it.economic times are hard, but I can get it almost half off online.check the photos

I went to Grand because I buy most things straight up and I need to establish more credit. I financed a washer and dryer at $2,000 each (retail is 900 in stores) but that's how financing is which is why I pay straight up. Three weeks later the set arrives and there are no power cords. Guy says they gave us wrong ones contact your sales guy please sign here. I donated my old set yesterday to make room for the new set. Heading to laundry mat bc no one has answered me or contacted me. I'm just disappointed.

I have been standing in line for over 10 minutes to make a payment and 4 employees walked past me and didn't ask me if I needed anything. When I was finally called up to the counter the employee was so rude!

Purchased bedroom set and once it was delivered, the bed was the wrong one so it was returned and I was promised I would receive that weekend from store manager but a few hours before I was suppose to have it delivered I was called and was told it would have to be the following work week. The store manager has horrible people skills and there is no communication within store employees and no one seems to know when or how I will get my bed. Will NEVER shop at Grand furniture in Newport News, VA again! Absolute horrible customer service.

The store itself is pretty nice and I got a great deal on a sleeper couch on Black Friday. Their prices are fairly reasonable as it is (except on TVs, I laughed at the prices they were asking), and they have a pretty good selection as well. My salesman was pretty attentive as well, but obviously rather busy since, again, it was Black Friday. The reason for the poor review is the delivery service.

From the minute they walked in the door it was fairly obvious they didn't want to move the couch to the back of the house, because they had to turn a corner. They said it wasn't going to fit, and then when I said I was pretty sure it would, they had to ask ME for a tape measure. After telling me it wouldn't work again, they finally got it through the door into the hallway, then when it was time to turn the corner, they got it about 75% of the way on its end and again decided that it was too tight to get around the corner and showed me how little room there was to work with.

At this point I more or less just gave up and told them to put it in the living room. They then gave me instructions on what I should do when I try to move it to the back. All of that would be fine if delivery were free. But when you're paying roughly $50 bucks to have your furniture delivered and set up, that should include people are knowledgeable and willing to maneuver big furniture in tight spaces.

In essence this was just 3 strong guys that had a truck. If it costs money, it needs to be a professional service. Now I'm going to have to probably call a moving/staging company and pay someone else to get my couch to the right spot. It's a nice piece of furniture and looks great. It's just not where I want it to be.

I am very disappointed with the service I have received from Grand. I went in the store and was helped by Miguel. I gave him the measurements of the room I had and showed him set I was looking and asked for a tape measure which he didn't have. He looked at the measurements on the tag and said everything would fit which it does not. Before I left I asked for the measurements and he forgot to give them to me and called and left a voicemail of the length only, guess he got side tracked when I there cause his buddy came in while we were talking When it showed up at my house the delivery men were in a hurry and would not position everything where I wanted.

The love seat to the set was broke when we sat in it. When I called about not even wanting it because of the poor craftsmanship they still want to charge $200 for a restocking fee. Very unhappy customer.

I do not recommend purchasing the insurance! When you purchase the insurance you are GUARANTEED a store credit for the amount of the insurance IF you do not have to use the insurance up to five years. They issue you a little green certificate which HAS TO BE KEPT for the entire period because they will not accept scanned or photocopies of the certificate.

If you try to redeem it (after not using the insurance service) the credit will only apply to certain items (no appliances, no electronics, no bedding, so sale items, etc.) AND the KICKER is. the credit can be no more than 20% of the "purchase" price MEANING.if you have a $400 dollar credit, you have to purchase something for $2,000 to use it. CROOKS!

My wife and I bought our first house last year and didn't have any furniture of our own, so we decided to go with Grand because we liked their selection. Long story short, the past couple of months have been a real nightmare dealing with them. We signed a contract to have a certain amount automatically come out of our account each month and we have been getting harassing phone calls saying that we owe money for late charges.

I have called the company talked to a few managers in the store. I've called the district manager, who just so conveniently, is never in the office. I've left voicemails and never get any kind of response back. We also had to take out a warranty claim on our couch which took about 5 months for that to go though. Then after they FINALLY picked up our couch, they had that for a full month just so they could replace "one part" on it.

We are talking with our lawyer to see what can be done about this. Needless to say, as soon as we get our furniture paid off, we will NEVER deal with Grand Furniture again and NEVER recommend them to anyone.

My husband and I were thrilled with the service we received from a lady named Kim at Grand. We had recently moved to the area (he's navy) and we needed to purchase a couch. Once we got in, we were greeted by Kim, given her card and left alone to shop. She had a hands-off approach meaning every other 5-minutes wasn't, 'Are you still okay?', or 'Let me know if you're ready to purchase, ha ha' like I feel we got at many other stores.

When we were ready with questions, she was prompt and really helped us out tremendously! We had just missed a sale weekend but she was able to get us that discount (we'd been in during the sale but we'rent ready to buy) along with the military discount. She was a delight to work with and in the end, we walked away with a "cho-fa" that we LOVE. If you go in, go look for Kim - hands down!

We have been buying furniture from Grand in Chesapeake for quite a few years now, but after our last purchase.it will be our LAST purchase from them! Since our first purchase over 10 years ago, we have always been happy with the service we received, the sales staff, and furniture quality. But since the new Ashley's opened, all of this has changed and pretty much for the worse.

We recently purchased a new living room set and new bedroom set and hoped to take advantage of the sale that was going on. Our salesman appeared friendly and cooperative at first, but soon we were being told one thing and then another regarding furniture availability. This guy should've been a used car salesman. We eventually found both a living room set and bedroom set that we liked and "according to our salesman" was in stock and would be delivered on the date we desired to our new house. Well, then the financial paperwork started and you really do have to pay close attention or you will be screwed 3 ways to Sunday! Again, just like being on a car lot because our salesman was always going to check on something regarding our purchase ("let me talk to the manager about this").

Finally we are now shuffled to the actual lady who sets up your account who now tells us that we must use ACH in order to get the special financing. WTF! I hate anyone but me or my wife touching my checking account, but we caved in and said yes after she told us we could cancel the ACH after 5 months and just pay online. Now we're done.or so we thought.

Next day, salesman calls and says I have to pick out another bedroom set because the one I wanted wasn't in stock! Whiskey Tango Foxtrot! I walked in after a long day (moving) and finally settled on another bedroom set on the condition it was at the sale price or we would cancel the whole sale in accordance with the contract! A very surprised salesman (who assumed no one actually reads the contract) got on the phone and after many yes sirs agreed to my demands.

Two days later we received a call that part of our order was ready for pick up! We had agreed that we would take two lamps home on the day of purchase with the rest to be delivered on the agreed date (two days prior to the mover's arrival). Now the snarky salesman (knowing my 72 hours for contract cancellation has expired) explains that I must take the end tables and coffee table before the first of the month.turns out he was trying to boost his monthly sales for the bonus commission.

There is more regarding furniture being out of stock, items missing on delivery, etc. Bottom line, take your money elsewhere. They are now credit predators who would rather someone with good credit go some place else. They want only the people who have poor credit so they are more desperate to just take whatever and Grand can make a ton off interest. Never again for us!

I walked into Grand to buy a bedroom set. Long story short, received all of my furniture (after what I thought was a high delivery fee) with no problems. I decided to save a bit of money every month by going into the store to make my monthly payment. After a few months, the woman that sold me my furniture continued to call me to remind me that my furniture was being financed and pretty much was trying to get me to pay it off faster so she could get her commission.

I found out that she was doing this to other customers as well and eventually got fired. (Yay!) I went on deployment, so my spouse was going in and making the monthly payments while I was away. The last payment made, he was told by the representative that the furniture was now paid off completely. I get home from deployment and there's a notice from Grand saying that there is still a payment to be made.

Feeling very frustrated, I call into the store and make the last payment. We had a lot of back and forth with this store and needless to say, I don't recommend it for that simple fact. We do love our bedroom set, just not all the shit we dealt with.

Grand Furniture didn't have the best selection of modern looking furniture that I was after, but I did ultimately end up purchasing a couch from them. It seemed like a reasonable place. Although, a year after having owned the couch, it became significantly uncomfortable. I'll place that more on the couch itself than the store. Just be sure not to overpay.

I am giving this as a warning to all who deal with this company. I am a 100% Unemployable Disabled Veteran meaning my disabilities are so severe that I can no longer longer work and depend on the taxpayer to exist. I bought furniture from this company a bedroom set for my daughter which I was keeping up payments until recently. After falling behind I contacted the company that I was having problems and made a payment of 270 some odd dollars to bring it back into what I thought was current, however, I guess the Company was not satisfied with that and took me to court and now has placed a lien on my bank account.

Since they cannot touch funds from the Veterans Administration or Social Security, they will be going after the money I have for making handmade jewelry to make ends meet to pay off the debt I owe to them. Now to make matters even worse the furniture I have is off poor quality, paint has peeled off and the mattress on this bed is now sinking in the middle.

My daughter weighs about 115 lbs so it can't be that. I will be contacting them to fix the furniture which is under warranty but I do not think they will do anything about it. Bottom line especially for the Military in my area, use your benefits like the Military Star Card and buy quality furniture from the NEX which has a low finance charge and stay away from this company, I learned my lesson the hard way and hope everyone heeds my warning. Btw, this Company is not part of the Better Business Bureau according to the BBB website. http://www.bbb.org/norfolk/business-reviews/furniture-retail-and-online/grand-discount-furniture-in-virginia-beach-va-3153

My wife and I chose to buy a new sofa from Grand Furniture because it was slightly less expensive. We thought the warranty would also be helpful, just in case, according to our sales person's recommendation. We needed to file a claim with the warranty company because of a TINY hole that was punctured into our couch by a pocket knife (it happens sometimes).

We were reassured by the warranty company (Montage) that our parts would be ordered right away and would arrive within 3-4 weeks, at which time a service company would come to our house to repair the couch. This same "explanation" of our claim was provided to us for 4 months. Once I explained how upset I was by the lack of knowledge. they blamed Grand Furniture for providing bad information.

I let Grand Furniture know that we were preparing to move and needed a solution immediately. It wasn't until 2 weeks after we moved that they offered to replace the couch. but we lived states away. DO NOT purchase your furniture from this store. Not only do they provide increasingly poor customer service to their current "clients". they also make multiple attempts to catch you off guard with their fine print.

They do not send invoices regularly for anything you finance in an attempt to charge financing fees and they will claim that they "lost checks in the mail". and then will tack on additional fees. They have a collections company on standby run by incompetent individuals to call you to collect on fees. I finally went into the store to look over the contract and invoices and paid off the couch after they removed all fees. with an explanation that they are not to be trusted. My sincerest recommendation to all individuals, military or not, in the Hampton Roads area: DO NOT BUY YOUR FURNITURE FROM THIS STORE.

I wish to God I had read a review before purchasing anything from this horrible company. They advertised a couch for $999 interest free 6 months. They also told me as I was buying that I came during a deal and got a free 19inch. Which was cool. However On the 6th month i tried to pay it off but NO it was supposed to be in 5 months before the 6th month. Advertised wrong so I had to pay An extra $350 on top of that the couch broke 3 times!

They replaced it but by the 3rd time of the springs breaking for no reason or the seem they said I could pick another couch for the same price. I assumed the $999 which I understood but NO THEY SAID I HAD A $580 store credit bc they advertised my original couch as $999 with a free 19 inch but in fact charged me for the 19 inch. Yes $300 for a 19 inch. They're criminals.

Chances are, this will be our last time purchasing any furniture from Grand. We have done business with Grand because it was easy to do being a military family. Every month they took money out, via allotment, and the furniture would be paid off, interest free, in one year. Easy and it wouldn't break the bank. But as the years have passed, they are cutting corners and doing stuff I call into question.

Number one: They are weeding out a lot of their higher quality furniture. It took awhile to find something we like. Their prices are competitive, but you have to negotiate with them like you would getting a car. That is tiresome. Number two: My husband would sign the final bill of sale since the money comes out of his paycheck. But, before he would sign anything, we went over all the payments with salespeople and thought everything was sorted out. Well, I just looked at the latest bill of sale and I noticed a 800.00 charge at the bottom.

So I did some research. Turns out they are charging us debt cancellation/insurance. Huh? I understand the concept. They want to make sure the furniture is insured while it is being paid off. (in case anything happens) I get that, but why not let the consumer know you are charging this at the end? Why not ask the consumer if they have home owners/renters insurance?

That would cover the furniture AND save the consumer money. I called the store and they are going to credit our account, but I think this is sneaky and unprofessional. Most military families have home owners/renters insurance. It is drilled into our brains because of the constant moving we do. And I know they do A LOT of business with the military.

So my advice, if you decide to go purchase furniture here, and you have insurance, take an insurance declaration with you and make sure they do not charge you at the end of that bill. (if you so choose) It really ticks me off knowing they have added some type of charge at the end of every bill of sale we have done with them through allotment. Bottom line-Give the consumer a choice. Customers can either take their insurance, couple it with there own or waive it. (as long as they have insurance) And BTW-the delivery company is still horrible.
